    Shepheard's Hotel, Cairo 1849: Entire letter written and signed by Samuel Shepheard to his cousin in Leamington, struck with fine oval FORWARDED BY / S. SHEPHEARD / BRITISH HOTEL / CAIRO in black at lower left, with double arc ALEXANDRIA cds of British P.O. (Sept 22) and London and Leamington cds's alongside. Charged 1/8 d. to pay on receipt. The entire, with small piece missing from front panel, bears one of the 5 or 6 known strikes of this rare marking.
