    1 pi. red used on 1871 entire letter from Minuf to Cairo, with manuscript 'Minuf 1/21/1871' at lower left, the adhesive being cancelled by oval negative seal handstamp in black (Smith A6, illustrated on page 502) reading 'Maktab Bosta Khedewiya Masriya / Minuf', with reverse showing 'V. R. Poste Egiziane / Cairo' arrival datestamp (Jan 21) in black. Sold together with an off-cover 1872 1 pi. with same negative seal handstamp in black. Rare and fine page.

    Note: Minuf had yet to be issued with a circular datestamp.
