    20 pa. yellow green and horizontal pair of 1 pi. red, used on 1870 fully prepaid cover carried under the Austro-Egyptian Postal Convention (effective from September, 1868), the adhesives tied by V. R. POSTE EGIZIANE / MEHALLA cds's in black (July 22). Italic 'Franca' at right applied in Egypt with reverse showing Alexandria transit cds of Egyptian P.O. (July 22) and Vienna arrival cds. File fold but a rare franking.

    Note: Austro-Egyptian Postal Convention rate was 2½ piastres from lower Egypt to Austria and 2 piastres from Egypt to Levant Ports.
