    1870: Entire letter from Alexandria to New York, endorsed 'via D'Italia & Liverpool' (to avoid the Siege of Paris and Franco-Prussian War), franked by Italy 1863 10 c. orange-brown and 60 c. violet with 1867 20 c. blue tied by 234 numeral obliterators with 'Alessandria D'Egitto / Poste Italiane' despatch cds (Dec 17, with month inverted). Brindisi cds of transit on reverse and New York / Paid All cds in red (Jan 11) on front. File fold through 60 c. but a scarce usage.
