    1870/71: Covers (2), earlier entire letter to Syros franked by fine Large Hermes 40 l. dull lilac on blued paper tied by dotted '97' lozenge of Alexandria with blue 'Alexandria' cds at right (July 2, 1870); also an April 1871 cover to Syros sent unpaid with 'Alexandria' cds in black and taxed for inland delivery with Large Hermes 40 l. bright reddish lilac on blued tied by Syros cds (mail from Greek Post Offices abroad was not taxed at double the deficiency when sent unpaid). A fine and appealing pair.
