    1840 (Dec 1): Entire letter from Bombay to Paris endorsed at top 'per Cleopatra via Suez, care of Mr. Waghorn' struck on reverse with framed 'To the care of / T. WAGHORN' in black (Smith / Sidebottom type 10), with British P.O. ALEXANDRIA double arc cds on front (Dec 24) in black. Thence via French Mediterranean Packet with small cartridge PAQUEBOTS / DE LA / MEDITERRANEE in red. Disinfected at Malta with circular 'Purifié Au Lazaret / Malte' in black and charged 20 décimes due in manuscript on arrival (Jan 8, 1841). A fine and rare entire.
