    1864: Cover to Mansura endorsed 'per Consegna' (registered) at top, struck with sender's cachet ('J & P Planta / Alexandrie') at left, mailed with circular POSTA EUROPEA / ALESSANDRIA datestamp (Type VI) in black (March 11) and superb oval PER CONSEGNA / POSTA EUROPEA, ALESSANDRIA cachet (enumerator 1168, with latter figure in mss.). Charged '2' piastres (1 pi. postage and 1 pi. registration) in manuscript with fine oval POSTA EUROPEA / MANSURA arrival (Type V) in blue of the same day. Smith 'All Posta Europea registered letters are rare'.
