    1930: Croydon-San Francisco Maryland Free State Flight cover, Calcutta-Alameda stage, franked by India 1 a. chocolate tied by 'Park Street / Calcutta' cds in black (March 9) and by USA 2 c. carmine for onward leg (tied Alameda machine cancel, May 12). Centrally signed by J. B. Scholte (the pilot) with Stephen Smith signature also on reverse. Extremely rare - just 26 covers carried Field # 57 / ISC Brown # 30-16.
