    MERIDA 1843/50c.: Covers (3) to Caracas or Valencia, one showing circular CORREOS DE VENEZUELA / MERIDA / FRANCA and '1¾' rate mark in black, another sent unpaid with CORREOS DE VENEZUELA / MERIDA / DEBE and rate mark '1¼' in black, and the third dated August 1843 with outstanding strike of the MERIDA / DEBE in purple with manuscript rate inserted '1¾'. A scarce group.
