    1866: 4 r. carmine used on 1871 legal cover to Latacunga in combination with late printing 1870 ½ r. deep blue (four single examples) and 1871 ½ r. ultramarine on blued paper, the 4 r. tied by 3154 gros chiffres handstamp in black and by QUITO / FRANCA datestamps (March 1) in red. Pencil manuscript '13 oz.' at upper right and thus correctly franked at 6½ reales. Rare and most attractive franking. Cert. Moorhouse (2014).
