    1857: ½ r. blue, narrow to good margins on three sides, roughly separated at base, used on 1863 cover endorsed 'S.M.' (Service Militar) addressed to Santiago tied by bold strike of the extremely rare oval 'segmented Cross' handstamp in black with fine strike of circular PUERTO PLATA / (3) datestamp at left (5 July, 1863) in black. Cover readdressed from Santiago to Santo Domingo (see reverse). An outstanding and rare cover from both the Cuban and Dominican Republic philatelic point of view, an Exhibition item of consummate rarity. Cert. Todd AIEP.
