5 pa. black on blued thick paper, the famous block of four (Transfer Types 3-1/6-4) used on small piece, second stamp with minor staining from piece, otherwise superb with large margins all round, cancelled and tied by three strikes of the grill obliterator in black. A magnificent piece and an extremely rare stamp in a used multiple: Heimbüchler states that the grill cancellation cannot be entirely confirmed, however it is unlikely this was applied to defraud collectors prior to 1912, as mint stamps were more popular than used in the early years of the last century. Signed on reverse 'Gilbert & Köhler / Paris' in violet. Cert. Heimbüchler (2014) Mi = EUR 2'600+.

Provenance: 'Collection M. W.', Vente Publique, Rue Druout (May 1912).
