    Chiapas 4 r. black on yellow, without District name, a superb single example used as a Provisional Issue on 1868 registered front of cover to Chiapas, tied by circular C. DE COMITAN handstamp (Schatzkes fig. 120) in blue, with corresponding manuscript 'Certificado para Comitan / Sale hoy 21 de Julio de 1868' at top (Chiapas and Comitan had no registration cancelllations until the 1872 issue). The four corners of the cover all struck with fine strikes of framed 'Franqueado / en Comitan' handstamps (Schatzkes fig. 121) in blue alongside Comitan Official Eagle cachet. Docketing of receipt on reverse. Possibly the latest known Provisional use of the 1861 issue, a lovely cover of extreme rarity. Cert. Jaretzky (1987).
