    Mexico City 2 r. black on rose, a fine example used on 1862 entire letter to Madrid, Spain tied by network obliterator (Schatzkes fig. 827) in black, mailed from the British Consulate in Mexico City with negative handstamp on reverse. Prepaid 2 reales to Vera Cruz where the local Consul prepaid a further 1 shilling (red manuscript) with both British P.O. 'Vera Cruz' datestamp on reverse (Aug 1) and struck on front panel with superb Crown PAID AT VERA CRUZ in black. Thence via British P.O. in HAVANA (Aug 6), London (Aug 28) to Madrid (Sept 1), where charged '4R.' due to recipient. Couple of minor file folds away from adhesive, a superb and rare entire that opens particularly well for Exhibit display.
