    Mexico City 8 r. red-lilac, single example and rare horizontal strip of three in a rich shade, all used on registered front of cover to Puebla tied by FRANCO / MEXICO datestamps in black with framed 'CERTIFICACION A MEXICO / Sale en 9 de Dbre. de 1856' manuscript filled handstamp above (Schatzkes fig. 837) in black. Couple of ironed, and insignificant, creases but an attractive registered cover front at a the high rate of 32 reales. Extremely rare.

    Note: It should be pointed out that registered items had to be signed for and the reverse of the cover was the receipt, thus all registered items of Mexico, in common with other Central and South American countries, are fronts.
