    Morelia 1 r. yellow and ½ r. blue, fine examples with large margins all round, used on January 2, 1857 cover from Morelia to Mexico City (franked at first rate, 1½ reales for a ½ ounce letter over 30 leagues / 100 miles) and neatly tied by FRANCO / MORELIA datestamp (Schatzkes fig. 901) in black. Whilst the rate had changed to 2 reales under the December 20, 1856 tariff, the letter was allowed to pass. A charming and rare usage.
