    San Luis Potosi ½ r. blue, a superb example in a rich shade used on May 1, 1857 Escandron correspondence cover to Mexico City (thus mailed as Printed Matter or Circular as the ½ real letter tariff ended on December 20, 1856), tied by bold strike of circular dated FRANCO / SAN LUIS POTOSI datestamp (Schatzkes fig. 1443) in black. Rare and very fine cover.
