    1877: Liberty 10 c. brown used on 1879 cover to Berne, Switzerland tied by BOGOTÁ oval handstamp in black, initially via British Post Office with superb SAVANILLA / BARRANQUILLA cds in black (July 21), transferred to French Office with Consular SAVANILLA cds (July 22) in black (Salles fig. 1378) and carried on French Paquebot 'Ol. Rodrigues' with LIGNE D / PAQ. FR. D No. 1 datestamp (July 24) in red (Salles fig. 1471). Colombia was not a member of the UPU at this date and cover taxed on arrival with Postage Due 50 c. blue. Rare and most attractive usage.
