    Stato Pontificio 1852: 5 baj. black on rose and 8 baj. black on white paper, used on 1853 cover endorsed 'franco' from Rome to Rondeshagen, near Ratzebourg, Duchy of Lauenburg tied by 'Roma' datestamps (Nov 25) in black. Repeated strike of despatch cds at right and reverse with Innsbruck transit (Dec 1) and Thurn & Taxis and Danish Post Offices in Hamburg datestamps (Dec 4). The cover was entirely prepaid to Hamburg (5 baj. for Papal States, 8 baj. for German / Austrian share of Postage). Marked with red crayon '2' (schillinge) to be collected on arrival in Lauenburg currency. A fresh and fine cover to an extraordinary destination.
