    1849 (January 3): Entire letter endorsed 'Franco' at upper left, mailed from Paris to L'Argentière, Ardèche franked by January 1, 1849 Cérès 20 c. black on yellowish, a fine example with large margins all round, tied by 'PARIS / 60 / JANV. 3. 49' circular datestamp struck in blue with additional strike at left. Reverse with some docketing and arrival datestamp (Jan 6) in black. A rare early usage of the stamp (3rd day) and cancellation (2nd day). Some peripheral staining from the address otherwise a delightful and extremely rare usage. Signed Miro. Certs. Roumet (1993), Scheller (2008) and Brun (2014).
