    1 d. black, plate 1b, lettered GG, a very fine four margined example applied upside down to 1840 entire letter from London to Bagshot, Surrey tied by red Maltese Cross. London despatch datestamp (Oct 24) on reverse of a very fine and unusual entire.
    Note: At this time a stamp applied upside down denoted disrespect to the monarch-1 d. black covers thus are very rare, whilst, for example, Russian adhesives used in Poland during the 1860's can be frequently found applied upside down in order to show disrespect to the Tsar.
