8' r. slate violet, a fine example used on 1868 entire letter to Figueira, Portugal, overpaying the 60 reis rate; tied by dotted lozenge and by 'Bahia / Brazil' datestamp (Aug 27) in black. Carried on the 'Guienne' and reverse with violet 'P. Transatlantico' datestamp (Sept 12). Charged 150 reis due on arrival.
