20 r. reddish lilac in a horizontal pair and single 200 r. black used on 1871 cover from Rio de Janeiro to Palermo, Sicily; cancelled by cork handstamps in blue with French type 'Rio De Janeiro' despatch cds below (Oct 30). Slit for disinfection on arrival (due to Cholera outbreak in Brazil and Yellow Fever in Buenos Aires) and taxed with Italy 1870 Postage Due 40 c. tied by Palermo cds (Dec 5).
