    Crete-Allied Intervention. 1899 (March 24): Soldier's Letter from Private Smith of the Northumberland Fusiliers, mailed at normal (not concessionary) postage rate from Candia to Nottingham franked by 1890 1pi. on 10 kr. ultramarine tied by CANDIA / ÖSTERREICHISCHE POST datestamp (Tchilinghirian fig. 545) in black. Nottingham (April 5) arrival cds on reverse. Usual soiling but a rare usage from the British Occupation.
