    1857 (Dec 23): Unpaid cover from St. Gallen via Trieste to Constantinople struck in transit with framed '3-5/2-20' boxed handstamp in blue at Trieste (Van Der Linden unrecorded), the upper part for rate from St. Gallen to Trieste (15 kr.) also marked in red manuscript '6/9' at right; the lower part ('2-2') being the postage in piastres due from Trieste. An extremely fine strike of an exceedingly rare marking.
