    1864 (Nov 4): Cover from Hartlepool to Copenhagen at double rate, franked by superb three colour franking of 1862/64 3 d. carmine, 6 d. lilac and 9 d. straw, all tied by bold "Hartlepool / 947" duplexes in black. Red oval "PD" below and reverse with London cds, Hamburg Statdtpost datestamps (the Danish P.O. in Hamburg was still closed due to the 2nd Schleswig Holstein War) and Copenhagen arrival cds (Nov 8).  Manuscript on front "4" silvergroschen (credit to Denmark) and deleted "9" silvergroschen credit to German Postal Union (deleted so as not to be confused with a due marking). A charming and very scarce cover.
