    1865 (Feb 3): Entire letter from Hull to Copenhagen, Denmark franked by 1862/64 4 d. bright red, Hair Lines, three horizontal pairs and 3 d. bright carmine rose horizontal pair, faults, all tied by "Hull / 383" duplexes. Cover was struck with INSUFFICIENTLY / STAMPED in black and travelled via London (Feb 4) and Hamburg (Feb 5). Charged Postage Due on arrival with red crayon "17" skilling to pay. A marvellous and most interesting cover.
    Note: Franked at 2 s. 6 d. for a quadruple rate letter. British share 1 s. 4 d., remainder carried forward for GAPU 1 s. 2 d. = 11.67 silvergroschen. Belgian and GPU share = 7 sgr. Balance left from prepayment = 4.67 sgr. (noted on the cover "4" in blue crayon). Danish share 4 sgr. = 17 skilling to pay.
