    1860 (Aug 16): Cover to Copenhagen with the extraordinary franking of diagonally bisected 1856 1 d rose red, 1855-57 4 d. rose and 6 d. lilac all tied by bold strikes of the London "47" numeral obliterator in black to pay the 10½ d. rate (the first British ½ d adhesive was not issued until 1870), with manuscript "6½" being the pence amount paid forward (British share was 4 d.) to cover the 2 silvergroschen credited to Denmark in Hamburg, noted at base of cover. Reverse with London cds in blue, Danish P.O. in Hamburg cds (Aug 18) in black and Copenhagen cds (Aug 19). Some ageing around perforations but a wonderful and important cover for the specialist. Certificates BPA (1989) and RPS (2003).
