    1864 (March 19): Entire letter sent by direct ship to Copenhagen endorsed 'per Hull Steamer', due to the 2nd Schleswig Holstein War (declared Feb 1, 1864) from Hull to Copenhagen, struck with circular HULL SHIP-LETTER datestamp in black and franked at the normal rate via Ostend of 9 d. with 1855 1 d. red and 1858 2 d. blue pl. 9 (four examples) all tied by "383" Hull obliterators and by SKIBSBREV / KJOBENHAVN arrival datestamp (March 23). As the cover was sent by this unusual route there was no Mail accountancy and the cover was charged "9" skilling due in red crayon manuscript. Slight cover tear at base but a unique prepayment of the Danish share (6 d.) of the postage with British adhesives.
