    1864 (Feb 2): Underpaid cover from Dublin to Copenhagen franked solely by 1 d. red star (mailed a day after the declaration of the 2nd Schleswig Holstein War), struck with two line INSUFFICIENTLY / STAMPED in black and sent via Hamburg P.O. (Feb 5) to Copenhagen (Feb 9) - the unusual four day difference probably being explained by a routing via Waremünde and Malmö. The cover remained un-collected at the Copenhagen Post Restante until June 1864 with various manuscript charges for a total of 35 skilling due and was handstamped "Retour" in black. Returned to sender receiving framed SENT BACK TO ENGLAND / WITHOUT A REASON / FOR NON-DELIVERY in red. A fascinating and rare cover.
