    1855: 1 d. red brown, Die 1, perf. 16, a single example used with 1854/57 2 d. blue single and horizontal strip of four (lettered DI-DL) all tied by London obliterators to 1854 entire letter to Copenhagen, Denmark. Mailed via Belgium and Danish P.O. in Hamburg (Nov 24) and also struck in Hamburg with italic "franco" at lower left (Van Der Linden fig. 1425). A marvellous entire in excellent quality. Cert. BPA (2007).
    Note: The effective rate was 10½d. per ½ ounce. No Halfpenny stamps had been issued at this date and the notation '6½' (silvergroschen) on the cover is a credit to the German Postal Union, with 2 sgr. credited to Denmark.
