    50 bani blue & red, a fine four margined example (Transfer Type 1) used in combination with a fine vertical pair of 5 bani orange (Transfer Types 1/1) with large margins all round, on registered 1870 cover to a Justice of the Peace in Soroca District, Bessarabia, Russia via Czernowitz. The adhesives tied by IASSI /SERA datestamp (9/4) on despatch (Kiriac fig. 466) with framed RECOMANDAT registration marking above. Reverse with 25 bani adhesive removed and Czernowitz transit cds (10/4) and "Novoselicz" datestamp (March 30, Julian calendar) Russian P.O. cds. The envelope slightly trimmed at top and with one flap missing but a rarity used within the short two year period of the 60 bani rate to Russia via Austria. Signed Zoscsak.     Note: From April 1, 1869 charges for mail through the Austrian Empire were 60 bani per 15 grams. The tariff was again modified in April 1871 when it was reduced.
