    1 / 2
20 c. bright blue, First Stone, a superb large margined example used on 1860 cover from Bogotá to Paris, the addressee's name carefully erased, tied by bold BOGOTÁ eye-glass handstamp in black; pre-paying the postage as far as the British Post Office in Cartagena. Reverse with double arc Carthagena datestamp (May 5), thence via London (May 28) and framed "GB / 1F 60c." accountancy marking struck in black. Calais entry mark of same day and charged 8 decimes due on receipt. Minor faults but a truly marvellous cover, the sole known usage of this issue on a letter to France. Signed H. Bloch, E. Diena; cert. Moorhouse (2012).
