60 reis grey-black, Worn Impression on greyish paper, a fine horizontal pair with large even margins all round, used on reverse of 1845 taxed cover from Alagoas to Rio Grande Do Sul and re-addressed to Porto Alegre. The fine adhesives tied by bold strike of circular CORREIO GERAL DAS ALAGOAS datestamp (Jan 14) well struck in black (Ayres 1604). On arrival struck with dated RIO GRANDE handstamp (Ayres 1620) in black (Feb 1) and forwarded on with PORTO AL. eventual arrival (Feb 11) datestamp in black. Manuscript notation on obverse at top "Ins a pagar o porte-terra-60" (reis) due for the additional journey from Rio Grande. Some red crayon graffiti from a previous collector on front and small insignificant faults to cover, however besides foreign destination covers, the sole recorded 'due' usage and thus extremely rare.
