30 reis grey-black, Early Intermediate Impression on yellowish paper, the superb used horizontal pair on large piece, margins all round, cancelled by complete strike of circular CORREIO DA VILLA DE AREIAS in red (Ayres 1597). Almost certainly the sole complete strike of this handstamp, a magnificent and extremely rare usage, one of the gems of classic Brazilian philately. Illustrated in "Bulls Eyes" by Brookman on page 8.
