    1870/71: 7 c. vermilion, a fine example used on 1871 entire letter to Bremen, Germany tied by chessboard segmented cork cancellation in black with bold "New York Paid All / Direct" cds alongside (May 11) in red. Reverse with Bremen arrival (May 23). A scarce entire, the rate was reduced to 6 cents in late May 1871.
