    1851/55: 3 c. dull red (2, one with small fault at base) and 12 c. black horizontal pair used on 1854 cover endorsed "By the Prussian Closed Mail" to Dresden, Germany tied by "Waterford/NY" cds's (June 8) in black and by "N. York Am. Pkt. Paid /7" credit cds in red (June 10). Straight line FRANCO and "Paid" alongside and reverse with Aachen cds (June 22) in red of transit. Some minor faults but a scarce cover of attractive appearance.
    Note: The "Franco" marking applied in Aachen was only in use from January 23, 1853 until September 1855.
