    1869: 2 c. brown and 3 c. ultramarine used with 1863 5 c. brown, straight edge at left on 3 c. pink postal stationery envelope, flap missing, mailed to Paris from New Orleans (Jan 11, 1870). New York transit cds in red on front (Jan 19) and thence via London (Jan 31) with transit on reverse and struck there with oval framed "GB/40c." Accountancy marking in black. Calais entry marking in black at left and charged "10" decimes due on receipt. Some minor perf. toning but a beautiful and rare franking for the specialist. Signed Brettl BPP.
    Note:The long running 1857 Postal Treaty with France ended 11 days earlier on December 31, 1869.
