    1851/57: 3 c. dull red, two single examples used with defective horizontal strip of six on 1853 cover to Paris, all cancelled by "Sharon Springs/NY" datestamps in blue (July 29). Part paid in stamps and part paid in cash (notation on cover "Stamps 24/Cash 16 = 40c.". Red circular N. York Am. Pkt." (July 30) at right and reverse with Paris arrival (Aug 11) cds in black where rated '18' decimes due in manuscript. Despite the faults a remarkable cover. Illustrated in Hargest.
