    Retaliatory Rate 1848 (Aug 19): Entire letter prepaid with "1/-" in manuscript and "London/Paid" cds, endorsed "pr. Steamer via Southampton" from where the entire was carried by the Ocean Line Steamer "Washington" to New York, with "24" handstamp in red and "New-York/Ship/29" datestamp (Sept 6) in red. A fresh and fine entire.
