    1857 (Jan): 4 d. rose, wmk. Large Garter, a fine single example used on 1859 entire letter from London to Chalons-Sur-Saone, France tied solely by oval "PD" in black with further strike in red below. Calais transit on front (Feb 15), reverse with London despatch, Paris transit and arrival cds. A charming and extremely scarce usage.
