    1868/1870: British Post Offices Abroad: ½ d. rose, plate 5, 1 d. red, plate 176 and horizontal pair 6 d. grey, plate 16, used on envelope from Panama to Hamburg, dated 20 September 1879, tied by 'C35' horizontal oval in black, with 'PANAMA / 20 SP 1879 / TRANSIT' also in black alongside, to reverse a red London transit dated 13 October and an arrival datestamp 14 October 1872, rare tri-colour and line engraved surface printed combination, sent at the 1 shilling 1½d rate.rnNote: SG does not list plate 5 and plate 176 as being used in Panama.
