    1850: 1 d. reddish-rose, Plate I (positions 21-22) in a horizontal pair with huge margins all round the right hand stamp with insignificant surface scuff at top, used with single 3 d. myrtle-green on soft yellowish paper (position 14), large margins all round and slightly overlapping the pair, on the famous 1850 cover from Gresford to Hobart, Van Diemen's Land all tied by bold strikes of "61" barred obliterators in black. Obverse with oval "PAID SHIP LETTER / ♚ / SYDNEY" in red (May 8) and manuscript "4d." due for incoming Ship fee; reverse "GRESFORD / ♚  / NEW S. WALES" despatch datestamp (May 6) and Crowned "PATTERSON" transit together with framed "SHIP LETTER" Hobart arrival (June  8) in black. Palmer cover census #108. Just three covers are recorded with the rare 3 d. myrtle-green. A magnificent and extremely attractive cover for the connoisseur (see the extraordinary provenances below) of the Sydney Views. Cert.
