    1889 (March): "Protectorate / Fourpence" on ½ d. vermilion vertical pair used with 1888 1 d. lilac & black in a horizontal pair on 1890 cover to Cassel, Germany tied by "PALACHWE / KHAMAS TOWN" despatch cds's in black (Oct 10). Mafeking transit cds at left (Oct 16) in black. Reverse with Cape Town cds (Oct 21); London cds in red (Nov 11) and Cassel arrival of the following day.
