    Protectorate Essays 1888: Essays (5) by Messrs. Townshend & Son for the Protectorate overprint on 1 d., 2 d., 3 d., 4 d. and 6 d. lilac & black, wmk. Orb, with "PROTECTORATE" overprint (type 3) the mall overprint in block capitals, fresh appearance, each with corners on reverse showing where adhered to card, unused without gum. Extremely rare (see Holmes lot 1140 for a further example applied to a 1 d. adhesive) and most probably close to unique on five different values. Cert.
