    1934 (Feb): Overprinted "OFFICIAL" by the Govt. Printer in Pretoria, ½ d. emerald, 2 d. bright purple and 6 d. orange-yellow, all used on large piece of cover addressed to a Professor M. Lambert in Lagos, Nigeria and each stamp neatly tied by MASERU circular datestamps (April 9, 1934) in black. An excessively rare piece: only 24 of the ½ d. value were issued, 54 of the 2 d. and 27 of the 6 d., the balance of the issue (numbering initially 300 sets) being burnt by the authorities.
