    1913: American Bank Note Co. Essay for the Bolivar 1 b. value, dated Feb 7, 1912 at base, with stamp size design in composite format with engraved vignette in indigo and the Frame hand-painted in blue and Chinese white with manuscript "Follow sample for colour" and "OK". Portrait of Bolivar by a Venezuelan photographer, also from the archive, accompanies the lot. The stamp was eventually issued entirely in slate-blue. Unique and very appealing Essay.
