    1844, Hale & Co., 6 c. blue, used on cover, from Boston to Philadelphia, just touching part of one side otherwise margins all round, pre-cancelled by magenta cross, very fresh printing, fixed to a clean uncreased entire, with pencil street note above ink address, letter headed up '24 June 1844', very fine example, rare; one of three Hale & Co. manuscript pre-cancels known in magenta and the earliest recorded pre-cancel; an important piece and very attractive.
