    Essay 1905: Handpainted Essay by an unknown artist on thick card paper (61 x 67 mm.) for proposed 1 d. value with vignette showing profile of Edward VII facing left within six pointed star, painted in shades of carmine with the head-plate surrounded by the Arms of the six States and "♚ / Commonwealth of Australia / One Penny / Postage" with "Victoria" at base.
