    1856: Soldier's Letter from Hobart to Blairgowrie, Scotland endorsed by sender "Lance Corporal Robt. Robertson of 1st Battalion, 12th Foot Tasmania" and countersigned at lower left by his Commanding Officer. Struck on despatch with circular "GENERAL POST OFFICE / HOBART TOWN / ♚" in red (Jan 11). Reverse with Blairgowrie arrival cds (May 13) where charged the concessionary rate of "3d." due to pay (1 d. Captain's gratuity and 2 d. unpaid Packet rate). Lance Corporal Robinson was on convict guard duties in Hobart Town, the letter states he has been transferred to the 1st. Battalion.
